CPD02 Evidence Based Yoga Nidra Teacher Training
A Continuing Professional Development Specialty Intensive
“Sleep is the school one must pass through if one knows how to learn one’s lesson there, so that the inner being may become independent of the physical form, conscious in its own right and master of its own life.”
— Words of the Mother, Vol. 15, p. 131, Library of Sri Aurobindo Ashram
Yoga Nidra has captivated the world of self-care and rest, but it goes further, cortically remapping our brains on our subconscious and unconscious levels of being.
“Most people sleep without resolving their tensions. This is termed nidra. Nidra means sleep, no matter what or why, but yoga nidra means sleep after throwing off the burdens. It is of a blissful, higher quality altogether.”
– Swami Satyananda
Our society is overall placing demand before rest. Therefore, we see a sustainable need for teachers, doctors and therapists to engage in practices that instill an understanding of how to cultivate deep rest and guide the subconscious spiritual awakening within their clientele.
The literal meaning of Yoga Nidra is “yogic sleep”. This practice cultivates a dynamic conscious state between wake and repose, modifying brain wave frequencies and patterns as one deepens into the practice. It is proven beneficial to people suffering from depression, anxiety, insomnia, psychosomatic diseases, chronic pain and inflammation, chemical dependency, and many other ailments. With repeated practice, Yoga Nidra can establish joy based on resilience, recuperation and a sense of wellbeing in daily life.
An appreciation for the Yoga Nidra state will be enhanced by understanding neuroscience perspectives. Moreover, the knowledge base will explain how foundational yogic and ancient philosophies, teachings of Yoga Nidra, take you further into Self Awareness and awakening to our True Nature.
Experience the supreme state of Yoga Nidra, led by BIYOME’s Founder and Director, Celia Roberts, a Senior Yoga Therapist, Meditation Teacher, and Ayurvedic Therapist with a degree in Biomedical Science.
“A sleep that imitates death is his repose.”
— The Yoga of Sleep and Dreams Mother and Sri Aurobindo

Embodied Experience – Move beyond relaxation to maintain awareness through dream and deep sleep, transforming sleep into profound meditation. This approach supports the realisation of Nirvikalpa Samadhi, the highest state of yogic consciousness beyond all mental fluctuations.
Vedantic Insights – Gain insights from the original texts of Adi Shankara, exploring how true Yoga Nidra culminates in the merging of awareness with the Supreme Brahman. (Translation by Dr David Frawley)
Self-Inquiry – Explore the Drg Drsya Viveka, the inquiry into the ‘Seer’ and the ‘Seen’, uncovering the distinction between consciousness and perception, and realising the Self as non-different from the Absolute. (Translation by iRest® founder, Richard Miller)
Nocturnal Meditations & Dark Retreat Practices – Delve into a sequence of Dzogchen practices that guide awareness through the full spectrum of consciousness, including Liminal Dreaming, Lucid Dreaming, Dream Yoga, Sleep Yoga (Luminosity Yoga), and Bardo Yoga.
