BioMedical Yoga Therapy for Gut-Brain & Biome Health
(by BIYOME’s founder and director, Celia Roberts BSc.)

The evidence based research on yoga and mindfulness in neuroscience have significant implications for gut health and the diversity of the microbiome.

Throughout this practice session, you will come to understand further the vagus nerve as the primary communicator between the brain and biome. We will explore the neuroscientific role of the brain’s amygdala and hippocampus, including the impact that neuroscientific change has upon microbial diversity.
You will learn new ways of how to specifically affect these brain regions through yoga and mindfulness, with additional reference to the beneficial research behind ‘nutritional psychiatry’. The bi-directional impact we can have through either changing the brain or the gut-microbiome is profound.
We will later touch upon the methods of brain-biome communication through neurotransmitters such as serotonin and GABA (gamma amino butyric acid) and you will understand how the impact of yoga therapy and meditation can alter your ‘inner pharmacy’.

Finally, on a very practical level, education around the mechanical act of stretching and massaging specific internal muscles to improve digestion and heighten our immune response will be provided.

We highly encourage you to attend this practical and engaging session on BioMedical Yoga Therapy for Gut-Brain & Biome Health with BIYOME’s founder and director, Celia Roberts BSc.
