The Sacred Energy (or Shakti) of the Body – is it an Insight into the Illusory nature of all Form?

Celia’s question to Michael A. Singer, author of The Untethered Soul, The Surrender Experiment, and Living Untethered.

Why does the energy in the body, the Shakti, become stronger as the person clears their samskaras? What is the purpose of that? The reason I ask is that sometimes when I meditate I can see beyond the illusion of all forms. Everything becomes patterns, yantras, mandalas, even the sacred math of the universe, “sacred geometry” if you like. I feel like I’m deeply connected to God or Divine consciousness, and that any form is placed on top of the incredible beauty of formlessness.

So is the purpose of the Shakti awakening to open the ajna chakra, and eventually turn awareness or consciousness in on itself? Or is the Shakti there to enlighten the body? By this I mean, “lighten” the body and to remind us of its illusory nature? When the Shakti flows very freely through the body, it feels like it pours through and does not belong to me, rather to the divine.

The question is:
Is the Shakti awakening a felt sense of the illusory nature of all form?

Response by Michael A. Singer, author of The Untethered Soul, The Surrender Experiment, and Living Untethered.

Dear Celia,

It is nice to hear from you. I sent your very deep question to Michael and his response is below:

“In the deep yogic teachings, one of the most beautiful names for God is ChitShakti, Conscious Energy. When Einstein discovered that E=MC2 , he scientifically unveiled the great mystery of the universe: There is no “matter”, just frozen energy. Just like steam, water, and ice are all just temporary states of the same substance, so the whole universe is just manifestations of the same underlying energy: Shakti. Though science has discovered that matter and energy are the same; they have not realized what the enlightened yogis realized: Consciousness and energy are the same. The whole universe, inside and out, are manifestations of the same Universal Force: ChitShakti. Just as ice can float on water, even though they are the same thing, so shakti can both manifest the body and flow through it. And the shakti you experience as flowing through your body, mind, and heart is the same shakti creating the entire universe but focused on you. And since shakti is just a manifestation of consciousness, your consciousness is just the Universal Consciousness focused on your tiny body, heart and mind. It is all One, just in different states of manifestation.

What is referred to as the Non-Duel, Void, Unmanifest is the primal state of ChitShakti before it differentiates itself into all of its manifestations, yet always remains unmanifest. The quantum field remains the unmanifest quantum field even though the particles it emits form into electrons, neutrons, and protons, which pull themselves together into atoms, which pull themselves together into molecules, which pull themselves together into all of manifest nature. Underlying it all is unmanifest energy, which just happens to be consciousness.

You are capable of experiencing your Oneness with All. You just have to learn how to free your consciousness from its addiction to focusing on your tiny body, mind, and heart. That is what the teachings are gradually teaching you: how to let go of your false image of self. The more you let go, the more you will experience the shakti in her purer form. Eventually you will cease to experience yourself as separate from her—That is the state of the Great Merger. My Father and I are One.”
