Recently, I stumbled upon a riveting area of research that attracted my attention—an inquiry into the concept of perfect health.
What truly defines this elusive state of being?
The answer, it seems, is an intricate tapestry woven from both the tangible and intangible elements of our existence. I would go further to say that depending on the state of our consciousness, perfect health can be a colourfully descriptive term or ultimately the eradication of the “I” thought, which creates the imagined self in a past and future, hosted by time and space.
Remarkably, when individuals undergo a radical healing transformation, especially those grappling with the formidable Stage 4 Cancer, they tend to traverse nine distinct pathways to reclaim their health. A striking revelation emerges when we dissect these routes—only two of them pertain to the physical realm, involving dietary choices, herbs, and supplements. The remaining seven pathways, however, delve into the realms of the mental, emotional, and spiritual dimensions.
- Changing your diet.
- Using herbs and supplements.
- Taking control of your health.
- Following your intuition.
- Releasing suppressed emotions.
- Increasing positive emotions.
- Embracing social support.
- Deepening your spiritual connection.
- Having strong reasons for living.
This enlightening research, spearheaded by Dr. Kelly Turner, underscores the significance of scrutinising the mental, emotional, and spiritual facets in our quest to restore holistic well-being. When we explore it from a conscious perspective, perfect health is the unravelling of all our imagined states of mind. It beckons us to disentangle ourselves from the shackles of the past and relinquish our habit of projecting into an uncertain future.
Our forthcoming Friday morning meditation retreat on how our past or Trauma is stored in the Body, spanning 3 transformative hours with 3 dedicated teachers, will centre on addressing the intricate web of trauma that may reside within the various layers of our energetic human field. While some may adamantly assert their absence of trauma, a profound realisation eventually dawns—this assertion only holds true when one transcends the limitations of the past and ceaseless projection into future. In essence, the past continues to govern our physical and mental well-being as well as our psychic equilibrium. This occurs when we remain hooked by our mental stories and projections that obscure our authentic selves. These are called samskaras in the yogic tradition and we can gently dissect them in our thinking processes, our bodies, and our breath. The moment the “I” thought appears, the whole world, including our body, takes shape and form. Liberation occurs when we can clearly see through every thought and uproot the “I” thought to experience what lies beyond.
Stressful thoughts or bodily stressors emerge as invaluable messengers, signalling the presence of untruthful thoughts or attachments to falsehoods that bind us. Each stressor serves as a potential catalyst, guiding us back to our inherent liberation. Ultimately, we see that the external world serves us only as a mere reflection of our internal narratives. We are the architects of our stories, the projectors of all narratives, and the world is but a projection of our thoughts.
By consciously moving and harmonising our body and mind in the present moment, we assume control over our health and fortify our spiritual connection. It becomes imperative to peel back the layers of our subconscious mind, unveiling the intricate patterns that shape our reality. The world, we realise, is simply an intricate tapestry woven from the threads of our stories, mirrored back to us through the lens of our perception.
As we shatter the confines of our self-imposed limitations and break free from the clutches of the past, we open ourselves to the realm of supraconsciousness state—a divine conduit for transcendent wisdom. In this paradigm, we come to recognise that we are the product of our own stories, nothing more, nothing less.
Our upcoming retreat will be a deep dive into the triad of mind, body, and breath—a holistic exploration through self-inquiry, moving meditations, and breathwork. It is a journey toward perfect health that beckons us to reconcile with the past, allowing it to be transmuted and healed by the grace of the present moment.
Through this transformative lens, we are gently reminded of that we are the effect of our own story—a truth poignantly expressed by Byron Katie:
“As long as you think that the cause of your problem is “out there” – as long as you think that anyone or anything is responsible for your suffering – the situation is hopeless. It means that you are forever in the role of victim, that you’re suffering in paradise.”
Embracing this transformative perspective with self-inquiry, we see that radiant beauty resides within. Sitting in this truth, we are, without doubt, humbled by our inherent magnificence and forever free of the past.
